… Is an elusive thing. It’s been hard for me to find where I would most expect it to be, as my family gatherings so far have been all about the usual dysfunction.
But yesterday I managed to snag a single, precious realization of the whole “peace on earth, goodwill to men” concept—in the checkout line at The Bay of all of places! On any other day of the year the long wait would have been a miserable affair for all involved, but I guess because it was Christmas Eve folks were pleasant, chatty, and dare I say it—human.
For those few fleeting moments the mood in that lineup made me believe we weren’t just obstacles in each other’s way, but brothers and sisters all fortunate to have won some time on this planet to spend in each other’s company, along with buying stuff.
Now I’m not a religious person in the Christian sense, so for me Christmas isn’t so much the reason for such behaviour, merely an excuse. So what say we keep those warm and fuzzies going all year long?
