Another slice of brilliance. The pacing problem and the two girls are my favourite bits….

    The Apple Store Guy

    image

It took literally all day for me to add a logo and render out the best quality video I possibly could, yet YouTube still makes it look like crap. There are other, much better video sharing sites out there, but none has the mindshare of YouTube. So the mob has spoken—here is the internet’s next superstar, courtesy of (blech) YouTube and (hooray) iLaugh.com

lol! Yes, we ARE a buncha dweebs. Aren’t we? Things is… I’ll bet you are too, tucked away in yer closet.

And i will go on record stating that I have yet to attend an Apple Store grand opening. So, dare I say you’re WORSE THAN ME! With the planned opening of yet another Apple Store at my neighborhood Sherway Mall in the fall, however, I’ll probably give in for that one.

BTW, I used to love you as the Devil’s Advocates on Speaker’s Corner!

An instant classic! I love the end when security goes after Mr. Howell.

Just what exactly were the t-shirts he was handing out?

Since the first 1000 people through the doors get free Apple T-shirts, the original idea was for Al to try and trade some crapped-up tourist tees for the Apple ones.

What happened instead was of course much, much better!

Have yourself a look at this video of yesterday’s Apple Store opening at the Toronto Eaton Centre; at the end of it you may recognize the guy in the orange shirt.

    Full story tomorrow!

MySpace, Where Comedians Go to Die?

    image

Last night I wandered deep into the vast cesspool of humanity and bad design that is MySpace. While I was somewhat prepared for the teenage poseurs, lonely, middle-aged men and thinly-veiled pornography, I certainly wasn’t expecting to find Jon Lovitz or Pauly Shore!

In his profile Mr. Lovitz writes:

I figured I’d use this web site to talk to my fans directly. Let you know what’s going on with me. And thank you for your support all these years. THANK YOU!!!

… And follows up on the blog section of his site with some very thorough answers to questions about the industry from fans. Mr. Shore’s page on the other hand is, well… Just sad, but really more in keeping with the whole MySpace experience anyway, if you ask me.

Did you notice how many friends these people have. I signed up for a friendster account once and I still check it now and then. I signed up, all my friends signed up too. We all called each other and said we added each other to the list. Then we never spoke of it again. I get the same vibe from my space. Sign up, colect your friends, then let it sit. Maybe it’s just because I already have a web page that I find these sites to be a little dull, I don’t know. Just thought I’d share.

    Nintendo Download Station

    pic

Here’s yours truly using the Nintendo download station at his local EB Games to try out a demo of the new title “Brain Age”. The game was already a huge hit in Japan when I visited there in January and the English version was likewise sold out by the time I walked into the store.

This download station idea is a great trick to get you into your local games shop—all you do is bring along your DS and use its built-in wifi connection to download all kinds of free game demos and movies. Whatever you download is wiped after you power off, though, so you’ll likely keep coming back for more!
