Another slice of brilliance. The pacing problem and the two girls are my favourite bits….

    YouRube: The BBC Cock-up

    image

It’s bad enough that YouTube is fast becoming the VCR for the MySpace set; now people are uploading crap without first getting their facts straight…

My weekend newsfeeds were all abuzz with the story of how the BBC mistakenly interviewed a London cabbie about a legal decision in the case between The Beatles’ Apple Corps and Apple Computer.

While the Cock-up did indeed take place, the gentlemen in front of the cameras was not a cab driver but instead an IT professional applying for a job at the Beeb. Watch the video for yourself and you’ll hopefully agree that all things considered the poor guy ended up doing an okay job!

Why does one need to get their facts straight in order to upload the clip?

And for whom is the existence of YouTube “bad enough”? Unfunny comedians?

Because lies make baby Jesus cry…

And for whom is the existence of YouTube “bad enough”? Unfunny comedians?

Ouch! If you actually had the guts to post a real email address and be accountable for your words I might actually be offended by that…

But to clarify, I don’t find the victimization of innocent people particularly funny. Nor do I take kindly to flame bait.

Consider yourself banned. Have a great day!

Film Premiere Photos up on Flickr

Just click on the above photo to see the entire set!

Big ups to Andrew Johnston and Katie Bergin for including me in their works of genius. Seeing my name in large print on two different screens sure made me feel like a big shot—that and the cab receipts I got from dashing across town between the two cinemas.

    One Afternoon, Two Film Premieres

It’s not too late to join me on my whirlwind afternoon of film premieres tomorrow…

    image

First up is Shut up and Write Me!, the brilliant documentary by fellow nerd school alumnus Andrew Johnston. It bows at 1:30pm at The Royal Cinema, 608 College Street West. My part in the film is shown in the photo above.

Almost as soon as the lights come up I’ll be ducking out to make my way down to the NFB for the 3pm premiere screening of The Cat vs. Brian. This one’s by invitation only, so if you haven’t yet been offered a ticket you’d better talk to the producer/writer/star, pictured above…

    The Apple Store Guy

    image

It took literally all day for me to add a logo and render out the best quality video I possibly could, yet YouTube still makes it look like crap. There are other, much better video sharing sites out there, but none has the mindshare of YouTube. So the mob has spoken—here is the internet’s next superstar, courtesy of (blech) YouTube and (hooray) iLaugh.com

lol! Yes, we ARE a buncha dweebs. Aren’t we? Things is… I’ll bet you are too, tucked away in yer closet.

And i will go on record stating that I have yet to attend an Apple Store grand opening. So, dare I say you’re WORSE THAN ME! With the planned opening of yet another Apple Store at my neighborhood Sherway Mall in the fall, however, I’ll probably give in for that one.

BTW, I used to love you as the Devil’s Advocates on Speaker’s Corner!

An instant classic! I love the end when security goes after Mr. Howell.

Just what exactly were the t-shirts he was handing out?

Since the first 1000 people through the doors get free Apple T-shirts, the original idea was for Al to try and trade some crapped-up tourist tees for the Apple ones.

What happened instead was of course much, much better!
