| Thursday, January 31st, 2002: Yesterday I finally saw a photo of my doppelganger in this CANOE article. I'm almost certain that we applied for the Canadian Film Centre's Feature Film Project the same year, and maintain that somehow our applications got mixed up. No matter; Variety has apparently listed my agent as a contact for this guy, so look for a film about my alcoholic father sometime soon ;-)
Today is my last chance to get the new Rogers.com network working with my AirPort setup. All evidence points to a deliberate decision by Rogers to deny home networks for their users, unless they're willing spend more money for that "privilege". Looks like it's back to Symcraptico for me... |

| Monday, January 28th, 2002: My opinions on the declining value of content are echoed today in an article by Jim Slotek. Click here to read the whole thing, or for the gist of it, consider this quote:
"Entertainment is pricing itself out of many people's lives -- and for stupid reasons. When it costs $80 for a family of four to see a movie, with tickets, $6 boxes of popcorn and parking, it's hard to drum up sympathy for the studio that paid Adam Sandler $20 million for Little Nicky." Amen to that! Elsewhere on the web, you can see a proof of concept for one of the three applications I was involved in for CBC's Innovations by clicking here. The selected projects are to be announced this week... |

| Thursday, January 24th, 2002: Keep it low: I grabbed some stills from that Bell Mobility video and put 'em up on my photos page...
And some sad news: Darryl Williams, one of the two best professors I had at nerd school last year, passed away over this morning. I'm glad I got the chance to study with him; in the "faster, louder, better" world of technology the wisdom of his years in the field was nothing less than gospel. In fact, I owe many of my fifteen thousand hits to his insight on designing for the web! |

| Monday, January 21st, 2002: More Japan weirdness, or proof that games the way of the future?
Over in the land of the rising sun, Pikmin has spawned a hit single, and sales of the game are surging because folks can get a free copy of it with their purchase. Click here to read the story, and here for the song itself. |

| Sunday, January 20th, 2002: Well, it took all of last week, but the video for Bell Mobility is finally done. I can't yet tell all, as I still don't have the cheque in my hands, but despite a client that was somewhat, shall we say problematic, I had an absolute blast!
Trouble is, it's hard to go back to acting after having a hard-working crew and talented cast hanging on your every word. I spent the evening last night with some of my Sin City cronies; all of them (including the director) were asking when I was coming back to do the show. I couldn't give them a straight answer... |

| Friday, January 11th, 2002: Please forgive the dearth of entries this week. Apparently the flu shot I got a couple of months ago doesn't protect me from the stomach variety of the virus...
I've also been hard at work writing a corporate video for my favourite company, the one that rhymes with both hell and hostility. My professional experience with them has been mirroring my previous consumer experience as of late. My innate sense of professionalism keeps me from disclosing any details, but that may change once I have cheque in hand... Stay tuned! |
