Wednesday, June 25th, 2003: My overpriced camera phone is back at Fido, and good riddance! You can see a week's worth of its crappy images on my photo page. While there, you may notice that the rest of my photos are gone. This is because it's getting to be a real hassle managing them all. In fact, this whole website is getting to be enough of a hassle that it may be time for some time-saving blogger software.

I'll worry about that... You sit back and enjoy a new treat!
Wednesday, June 18th, 2003: I pulled off a little scam at my local Fido store last night...

If I do in fact make good on my promise to dump my landline phone, I've decided that I want a second, prepaid wireless account for gadget-testing and the occasional houseguest. It turns out that the only way to get some free airtime on said account is to buy a new handset from Fido, then return it.

So for the next fifteen days I'll be playing around with this baby, though its lack of connectivity to my Mac will prevent me from keeping it. What I'm really waiting for is Handspring's next generation Treo, which you can see by moving your cursor over the Sony-Ericsson job. With its faster processor, upgraded OS and built-in camera, it would have been a perfect companion for my tour of the Balkans. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until the fall to get one.

Why do I get so excited about this stuff? I guess because I've been playing around it for years -- check out this vintage 1999 web article for proof. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to wipe some drool off of my keyboard...
Tuesday, June 17th, 2003: This Internet thing is getting better all the time!

Blackberry users will surely hate that I now get emails automatically downloaded to my Treo, courtesy of Snappermail. And VeriChat takes my buddy lists from ICQ, MSN & Yahoo! Messengers and puts 'em all in the same place.

On the desktop side, thanks to eFax's (almost) free fax-to-email service, I am finally, finally poised to cut all ties to that most-hated media behemoth, Bell Canada. If anyone can think of why I still need a landline, I'd sure love to hear it. And don't say better 911 service; Fido (aka Microcell) has already got that one covered!
Friday, June 13th, 2003: Here's my latest gadget, a soon-to-be discontinued Sony miniDV camcorder with built-in infrared. Why would I be in need of such stealth technology? Well friends, it seems that this travelling comedian will be on the road again next month, this time on tour for Canadian Peacekeepers in Bosnia!

I figure it'll be a great lesson in living history, and who safer to travel with than the army? You can read more about the tour here, and if you're interested in picking old my old DV camcorder, you can get more details from the Second Cine online forums.

Thursday, June 12th, 2003: What you're looking at is the set for Robert LePage's mammoth six-hour production of La Trilogie des Dragons, remounted for the recent Festival Théâtre des Amériques in Montréal.

Funny thing in this age of short attention spans... After seeing it, everybody asks about intermissions and how sore my butt was, but nobody asks me if it was any good. It was, and thanks for asking!
