Tickets are $20 for the 8pm curtain, and $35 for the 10:30pm show, including tickets to party afterwards. A highlight for me will be the recreation of last year’s audience booing comedian Boyd Banks off the stage.

So if you can’t dance or don’t want to look your significant other in the eye, come on down!

Al Howell has been dreading his 40th birthday for some time now. Thankfully he’s got lots of friends who where all willing to buy in on the concept of staging his mock funeral. Server space prevents me from showing you the memorial video I made, but I can put up an embarrassing school photo for the world to see.

Fucking cunts! Why don’t they go to Red Lobster?

Ah, September of 1998… At the height of our Speaker’s Corner-fueled fame, The Devils perform for Frosh Week on Centre Island, to these adoring (drunk) fans.

Now, more than five years later, no less than Whose Line star Colin Mochrie is doing college gigs himself, and on March 3rd is taking me with him to Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire. Something tells me that the stars of this particular show won’t quite be on equal footing with the audience, but I can deal — performing with Mr. Mochrie has its own perks.

It seems that our train wreck of a New Year’s Eve show has Al Howell and I forevermore yanked from the Playhouse on that particular night; I’m thinking of a more likely explanation, that The Second City caught wind of an easy sell-out and muscled in on our turf. Why else would we have the rug pulled out from under us after six years of faithful service?

Stay tuned for a transcript of an angry letter one of our suburban patrons sent to the box office. I promise to have it up sometime next week!

If you haven’t yet made plans to ring in the new year, why not come down to the Playhouse at Second City? Our 2003 extravaganza features Fast & Dirty, Derek Flores, Doug Morency, Ayumi Iizuka, Ryan Belleville, Matt Watts, Mae Martin, Lisa Lambert, Boyd Banks and Jack Mosshammer. And believe me, the chance these folks on one stage at $30 a ticket (+GST) is a steal, even without the fake champagne!

We’re reuniting for Fast & Dirty‘s CD release party at The Victory Café. Showtime is 9pm, and even though we only have about ten minutes of stage time for ourselves, we’ll do our best to make it worth your while.

While we shared many fond remembrances of our Speaker’s Corner days, we both admitted that our Comedy Network effort wasn’t really up to snuff. Let that be a lesson to you young kids out there: Don’t sell out! The short term gains aren’t worth the lingering disappointment.

Who says this Internet thing is only good for porn? Today, thanks to email, I was reunited with this great man. Who is he, you ask? Why he’s Brad Birch, responsible for getting The Devil’s Advocates out of the stinky, urine-soaked (yet somehow alluring) Speaker’s Corner booth and into 80 episodes of Improv Heaven & Hell.

And today, after a little hiccup in our friendship that somehow turned into two years of not speaking to each other, we made up. Awww :’-)
