Meet the Conservatory Class of 2005!
A few of the folks pictured above were MIA for their first class with me last night; at least two of them are no longer part of the group, victims of the police state that the U.S. has become — or of the long drive from Buffalo, at least.
But those that remain will be graduating from The Second City’s Conservatory Program with an original revue next spring. I’ll keep ya posted on that!

A shot of myself and Colin Mochrie performing for Microsoft last summer. Hilarious, ain’t it?
You youngsters out there may dread September, but I’m looking forward to it. I’ve already got a couple of improv gigs semi-booked, and I’ll be taking on a new Second City Conservatory Class for their grad revue. I’ll be contributing to Darryl Gold’s Porn Party in October, and there’s also the fate of my TV pilot to contend with!
Stay tuned…

Here’s one last photo from my LA trip. In the early ’90s — God, I’m old! — this very spot on Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade was the Upfront Comedy Showcase, where yours truly cut his improv teeth with classmates and Second City alumni from Chicago and Toronto.
Speaking of Second City, I just got my free copy of The Second City Almanac of Improvisation in the mail. Why? Because my two-page blurb about “finding the funny” made it to print, and without any edits!

Mr. Mochrie and I with just a few of the new friends we made at Colby-Sawyer College…
When I drove my rented car out of Boston Logan Airport yesterday I was a bit freaked out. Here I was in a strange vehicle on roads never before travelled, with signs that didn’t always make sense. I knew where I supposed be going, but feared I would get lost along the way. And then I realized, all I had to do was drive the car.
Likewise, in the hours leading up to my one hour, two-man improv set with Colin I was more than a little nervous, but once we were on stage together it hit me — all I had to do was drive the car. And drive it I did, with a little help, of course!
