    My First Podcast

More a proof of concept, really, but let me know what you think. You can load and listen to the MP3 file directly here, and/or load this address into your Podcast aggregator… Enjoy!

I particularly enjoyed the sound of the typewriters, your CBC radio-esque delivery and the musical sting bookending your report.

Will this be a daily Podcast…?

Hey it sounds great! Let me know if you want another voice, I’d love to try something out. I can get you and exclusive with the Candy Critic.

Tracey, I’m not quite that prolific… Yet. If you need a daily Podcast may I humbly suggest this:

      ;)

And Chris (plus anyone else who’s interested), to participate in those Podcast debates I was talking about you need to download Skype, a VoIP app:

AC, that rocked! I look forward to hearing more of them in the future. Also, count me in among those interested in participating, specifically if you plan on covering hockey or gaming ^_^

The plan is this: Jack Mosshammer and I are on deck for the first Podcast debate, “Mac vs. PC”, moderated by Al Howell. When that’s done I’ll post it here (duh!) to show you the format and get your feedback.

      Future debates might include:

      “M&Ms vs. Smarties”
“Air hockey vs. all other kinds”
      “Snake vs. all other games”
      “Treo vs. hiptop”
      “Yahoo! vs. Hotmail”
      “Coffee vs. Tea”

… And so on. I should warn you all that these things will probably degenerate into petty shouting matches—that’s the plan, anyway!

      AC:

Do you mean to say that future Podcasts won’t include updates about Andrew Currie?

      Ed

      PS: Pretty funny newscast!

If I remember correctly the Big Turk debate got pretty heated. We may need a fairly large moderator.

    Podcasting

    image

What the Apple LaserWriter did for desktop printing and iMovie for desktop video, so too does Podcasting accomplish for radio—that is, put the power to produce in the hands of common folk like you and me.

The term “Podcasting” is actually a bit of a misnomer—you don’t need an iPod at all to either make or listen to this homegrown radio-style content. But a label that capitalizes on all that iPod marketing hype surely couldn’t hurt!

The key to enjoying this new medium is to get a software aggregator for the MP3 content spread far and wide across the internet. Just as the iPod is friendly to Mac and Windows both, Podcasting solutions are available for multiple platforms as well.

Over the course of the holidays I’ve listened to a number of Podcasts, ranging from nobodies in their basement postulating about their next cell phone to regurgitated commercial talk radio. Within that spectrum I’ve found a couple of gems, even room perhaps for a Podcast of my own! Stay tuned…

Hey if your thinking of getting something like this off the ground I’d love to be a part of it. I’ve been thinking about putting an online show over the web for a while, I just haven’t had the technical skill, or enough material to fill more than one regular segment. I’m guessing the idea is to keep the shows regular so people don’t visit and listen to dead air. If you’re looking for someone to fill in a segment let me know, I’ve got some ideas that I would love to try.

      Hey Chris,

I’d love to work with you!

I’m planning on doing a test Podcast later this month, as this week and next I’m tied up with paying the bills with some corporate whoring.

Another thing I was thinking about was a series of internet debates using video chat.. Maybe we could do M&Ms vs. Smarties? Almond Joy vs. Mounds?

      I am down with that.

Found this link this morning, for anyone who’s interested. Seems that some folks take their podcasting very seriously:
